Savory Beef-Filled Empanadas

Easy Beef Empanadas

These easy beef empanadas are a delicious and savory snack that can be enjoyed as an appetizer or a main course. The beef filling is spiced with cumin, garlic, and chili powder, and the empanadas are baked until golden brown. Enjoy these empanadas with a side of salsa or guacamole for a complete meal.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 onion, diced
  • 1/2 bell pepper, diced
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 package of empanada wrappers
  • 1 egg, beaten

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain off any excess fat.
  3. Add the onion, bell pepper, garlic powder, cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper to the skillet. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Remove the skillet from the heat and let the beef mixture cool for 10 minutes.
  5. Lay out the empanada wrappers on a clean work surface. Place a spoonful of the beef mixture in the center of each wrapper. Brush the edges of the wrappers with the beaten egg.
  6. Fold the wrappers in half and press the edges together to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges.
  7. Place the empanadas on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops of the empanadas with the beaten egg.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  9. Serve warm with salsa or guacamole.
