Classic Pound Cake

This classic pound cake is a delicious and simple dessert that is sure to please. It is a moist and buttery cake that is perfect for any occasion.


– 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
– 3 cups granulated sugar
– 6 large eggs
– 3 cups all-purpose flour
– 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
– 1/2 teaspoon salt
– 1 cup milk
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract


1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour a 10-inch tube pan.
2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
4. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
5. Alternately add the flour mixture and the milk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with the flour mixture.
6. Stir in the vanilla extract.
7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
8. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before turning out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
