Mayak Eggs (Korean Marinated Eggs)

Mayak Eggs are a popular Korean side dish made with hard-boiled eggs that are marinated in a sweet and savory sauce. This dish is a great way to add flavor and texture to any meal. It is easy to make and can be served as a side dish or as a topping for rice or noodles.

Ingredients:

  • 6 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons mirin
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Place eggs in a medium saucepan and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes.
  2. Remove eggs from heat and let cool in the water for 10 minutes. Drain and rinse with cold water.
  3. Peel eggs and set aside.
  4. In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, sugar, mirin, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and black pepper.
  5. Add eggs to the bowl and gently stir to coat. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  6. Serve chilled or at room temperature.
