Butter Chicken Recipe

This classic Indian dish is a creamy, flavorful, and easy-to-make meal. The combination of spices, butter, and chicken creates a delicious and comforting dish that is sure to please. Serve with basmati rice or naan bread for a complete meal.

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the chicken, yogurt, cumin, coriander, garam masala, turmeric, ginger, paprika, salt, and cayenne pepper. Mix until the chicken is evenly coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the onion and garlic and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the grated ginger and cook for 1 minute.
  3. Add the marinated chicken and cook until lightly browned, about 5 minutes. Add the diced tomatoes and cook for 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in the heavy cream and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Stir in the cilantro and season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve over basmati rice or with naan bread.
